Choeung Ek Genocide Centre( The killing fields)
Didnt have time to go to Tuol Sleng Genocide Centre so shall head there during my next Cambodia Trip. Places that i will recommend if you are in Phnom Penh, will be the Genocide Museum and the Central Market for some souvenirs.
Just a thought when i was at he National Museum: There were some guys on the streets selling 'birds' for people to buy to release. I actually paid 1USD to a kid when he asked me about it. I proceed to give him the money and i was given 2 birds to release. When i was walking over to get the birds from the cage, i heard a couple scolding the street vendor and saying that he is heartless and the cage is too small and whatever he is doing is abusing the animals and is pretty cruel.
I actually agree with the couple and realised that whatever i am doing now is encouraging them to continue to do it. But the vendor said something that made me feel pretty sad: If i care for the birds then who will care for my family and kids?
Its pretty sad to think about it and left me thinking if my 1USD actually did them more harm than good.
